SEEKING ARTICLING PLACEMENTS

Owen Bethune (Posted September 18, 2025)

Hello, My name is Owen Bethune. I am moving to the area following graduation this spring. I am in search of an articling position for the 2026-27 term. I am completing my final year of law school at the University of Ottawa. Prior to law school, I graduated with the President’s Gold Medal for achieving the highest academic average in my program. I have worked the last two summers in the public sector. Through coursework, I have developed a strong legal foundation. I have a team-oriented and collaborative mindset, with excellent dependability. I am bilingual and can draft in both official languages. I am interested in all types of solicitor work and can be reached at obeth015@uottawa.ca. Thank you, Owen.

Basil Ugochukwu (Posted September 17, 2025)
I am an internationally trained lawyer pursuing the Ontario licensing through the Law Practice Program (LPP) at Toronto Metropolitan University. The LPP is a Law Society of Ontario initiative with two components: a 4-month practical training component (August to December) and a 4-month Work Experience component (January to April). LPP Candidates like me have the same status and rights of appearance as articling students. During the training component which I am currently undertaking, I will manage multiple matters, conduct practical legal research, draft agreements and retainer letters, interview clients, argue motions, conduct negotiations, docket time, manage a Virtual Law Firm’s trust account, etc. This component is preparing me to hit the ground running, and satisfies all of the core competency requirements demanded by the LSO. I am looking for a Work Experience placement in the Kitchener/Waterloo region for Winter 2026, i.e., January to April 2026. An LPP Work Experience employer only needs to focus on integrating me into their existing practice. My email address is bugochukwu@torontomu.ca.

Mina Allwell-Brown (Posted August 22, 2025)

I am an internationally trained lawyer with an LLB (Hons) from Nigeria and a Postgraduate Diploma in Employment Law and Practice from Scotland; currently completing the NCA process and preparing for Ontario Bar admission. I am seeking an articling placement in the Waterloo Region where I can apply my legal knowledge and gain practical experience in various aspects of Law. My background includes contract drafting and review, negotiation, compliance, and employment law advisory work. I have supported clients on matters requiring statutory interpretation, risk analysis, and the preparation of clear, enforceable agreements. In Canada, I contribute to the legal community through volunteering with the YMCA and have delivered an employment law seminar for HR professionals with the Workplace and Immigrant Network. I bring strong skills in legal research, writing, and client service, and I am eager to contribute to a dynamic articling environment. My email address is mina.allwellbrown1@gmail.com

Falak Baig (Posted July 29, 2025)
I am a UK-educated law graduate who has recently completed the NCA requirements to practice law in Canada. With an LL.B (Hons) from the University of Kent and a B.A. in Criminology and ICCIT from the University of Toronto, I bring a strong interdisciplinary foundation to the legal field. My experience includes working with the Ministry of the Attorney General at the Superior Court of Justice, assisting in court operations and document management, as well as supporting real estate and estates matters in a boutique Ontario law office. I have a demonstrated commitment to client service, legal research, and procedural accuracy, and I am now actively seeking an articling position where I can contribute meaningfully while continuing to grow as a legal professional in Canada. I would be happy to discuss my experience and goals in more detail. Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to the opportunity to connect. My email address is falakbaig96@gmail.com.
