2025 MEMBERSHIP FEE CATEGORIES
New WRLA memberships are valid from January to December of the current calendar year with the exception of student memberships which are valid from June to May.

Paralegal | Any licensed paralegal who’s a member of any Law Society of Ontario | $222.05 |
Associate Member | Any Lawyer or paralegals in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario who practice law or provide legal services in primarily in some part of Ontario other than Waterloo Region and are a member of a separate law association. | $87.30 |
Retired | Any lawyers and paralegals who are retired and no longer practicing law or providing legal services and are a retired member of the Law Society of Ontario. | $56.50 |
On-leave |
Any lawyers or paralegals who are in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario who practice law or provide legal services primarily in Waterloo Regions, but who are on leave from employment or practice for reasons of illness, disability, maternity, paternity or adoption. |

Articling Student | Any articling student in Ontario or any student enrolled in the Law Society of Ontario’s articling equivalency program (Law Practice Program (LPP) and whose principal is a member of the WRLA. Law/Paralegal Student | Law students enrolled at an accredited Ontario law school or paralegal students enrolled at an accredited Ontario college's paralegal program cannot have membership privileges, but can contact Pia Williams to inquire about library access during staffed hours. Legend of the Profession | Any lawyer who is a member of the Law Society of Ontario and has been practicing law for 50 years or more and the Board of Trustees has awarded this membership level. | Free |
